They say you learn something new every day. I'm a law librarian. What did I learn today? **Sadly I don't have the time to update this blog anymore. I'll leave it live for the sake of posterity for a little while longer**

SLA Europe Jobs Board
Today I learnt that SLA Europe has a new Jobs Board on its website. As you'd expect it covers job opportunities in the information field.
Recruiters can post vacancies for free until 6th April to celebrate the launch of the service; after that fees will apply. It's free to browse though (or you can subscribe to the RSS feed).

Eurotalk - an email discussion list for EU information issues
Today I learnt about Eurotalk, a Jiscmail discussion list for EU information issues.
Eurotalk (run by the European Information Association or EIA) is a forum to discuss EU information issues, to share expertise in handling EU information and for those seeking help with EU materials. As the EIA is to be dissolved by the end of 2012, the list has been opened to non-EIA members to explore the possibility of establishing a new group.

Inside Government Beta Version
Today I learnt that the beta version of the Inside Government website has been launched. Ten departments will be keeping it up-to-date for six weeks. It promises to the best place to keep up-to-date with the government's news, policies, publications and consultations, thereby minimizing the need to scan each department's website separately.
The front page has a "latest activity" section (which will eventually be updated real time) so you know what is going on in government right now. The feed is colour-coded, which each department being allocated a particular colour. Most exciting for me is the fact that each government department will have its own home page within the site, and they'll all have exactly the same lay-out. There will also be policy pages that provide policy overviews and links to all the news and publications relating to that policy, regardless of which department has produced the information.
It looks really promising.
